EXPEDITION LOGISTICS
During my 38-year career as a Paleoceanographer, I have sailed to every ocean and most seas on Planet Earth. I have crossed the Arctic and Antarctic Circles, the Equator and the International Dateline. I have spent 5 cumuluative years of life at sea on research vessels, mapping, collecting and analyzing deep-sea sediment cores, plankton, sediment trap material and water. Let me facilitate your next research expedition.
I am a research expedition logistical planning specialist and have been a participant on 41 oceanographic research expeditions; 26 on foreign flag vessels (Iceland, Indonesia, Canada, Japan & Germany) and 17 on vessels from the Wood Hole Oceanographic Institution, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Sea Education Association, Oregon State University and the University of Washington. I have been the sole WHOI participant with direct control over my portion of the scientific mission on 14 cruises to Iceland, 4 cruises to Japan and one cruise each on the R/V Cramer and Nancy Foster. Preparing for a cruise involves attention to detail with procurement and shipment of equipment essential to a successful international expedition. Once on board, communication between the crew and the scientists is critical, especially when English is not the primary language.
